Amlia Rebordo Rodrigues GCSE, GCIH , known as Amlia Rodrigues , was a Portuguese fadista and actress. Known as the Rainha do Fado , Rodrigues was instrumental in popularizing fado worldwide and traveled internationally throughout her career. She became one of the most important figures during the genres revival in the twentieth century and was a leading female fadista during her 50year recording and stage career. Rodrigues remains an inspiration to other fado and popular music artists such as Madredeus, Dulce Pontes, and Mariza. As of 1999, she has sold overmillion records worldwide. Amlia remains the bestselling Portuguese artist of all time.

Official documents give her date of birth asJuly, despite the fact that Amlia maintained that her birthday was in factJuly 1920. She was born in in the Pena parish in Lisbon, Portugal. Her maternal family has its roots in Souto da Casa, a parish in Fundo, where Rodriguess grandfather worked as a blacksmith.
